DISCOVER THE TOURIST PLACES IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH - THE INDIAN SHANGRI - LA



The land of the dawn-lit mountains - Arunachal Pradesh, is one of the top travel destinations. DARING VALLEY

Dirang is a small township in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh and located about 43 km from Bomdila. Dirang is located on the bank of the river Kameng. The altitude of Dirang is relatively low (4900 ft), having pleasant weather throughout.



The beauty is pure, and the air is fresh, that is the feel, once you reach Dirang valley after crossing the bridge on the river Kameng. Spend some time in the local Dirang market, buying souvenirs for loved ones and relish local delicious chicken momos with a cup of  Assam tea.  Dirang Dzong ( Fort)

It is an old fort about 150 years located close to the Bhutan border, surrounded by few stone houses of ancient times.

Hot Water Spring

A kilometre down the path, you will find a hot spring considered a holy place. You can have a bath there to experience a magical effect on your body and mind.

Yak Research Center

The national research centre has a yak farm at Nyukmandung ( about 31 km from Dirang). The centre researches genetic resources, problems associated with production.

Mandala Top

An enchanting ancient site with 108 Buddhist Stupas on top of the mountain with spectacular surroundings - A place for the people interested in archaeology and photography.



How to reach the Dirang Valley

 By Road From Guwahati

it is a 190km picpicturesque drive along NH31 to Baihata Charial and then NH52 to Bomdila via Balipara, Mangaldai and, Tezpur. From Bhalukpong, the NH229 is a mountain road to Bomdila (110km) and beyond. A vehicle with high ground clearance is suitable for the journey.

Best time to visit

Generally speaking, April-May and October-November are the ideal times to travel in Arunachal Pradesh. Although  Since Dirang is on a river valley, the altitude is relatively low (4900 ft). The weather here is quite pleasant most of the year and a good fit for your weekends.
